Node Contextual Menu (9.0)
Select (9.0)

Select (9.0)

Overview & Context

  • Select provides you with a convenient way to select other nodes relative to the node you have currently highlighted.

New Feature: Observable Markov Blanket

  • This new feature allows you to select the nodes that belong to the Observable Markov Blanket of the node on which you opened the Node Contextual Menu.
  • The Observable Markov Blanket is recursively defined as the observable nodes of the Markov Blanket, and the nodes that belong to the Observable Markov Blanket of the Not Observable nodes of the Markov Blanket.
  • So, if nodes in the Markov Blanket are Not Observable, the Observable Markov Blanket of these nodes is selected instead.
  • These nodes can also be highlighted by using the Neighborhood Analysis function.

Markov Blanket Definition

Usage

  • Let's assume we wish to identify the nodes belonging to the Observable Markov Blanket of Target Node named Target the network below.
  • Per definition, the following nodes belong to the Markov Blanket of the Target Node Target:
    • Parent Nodes P1 and P2 (green)
    • Child Nodes C1 and C2 (red)
    • Co-Parent Node (or Spouse) S1 (blue).
  • The nodes P2, C1, N6, and N17 are Not Observable, which is indicated by the icon .
  • Highlight Target, bring up the Node Contextual Menu, and click Select > Observable Markov Blanket.
  • The nodes in the Observable Markov Blanket of Target are now selected .
