Temporal Indices

Exporting a dictionary of Temporal Indices writes each node’s Temporal Index value to an external file, which you can reuse or associate with another network.

A Temporal Index specifies a time order of nodes in a Bayesian network, which is taken into account during network learning. For instance, if Disease has a Temporal Index value lower than Symptom, it implies that Disease occurs before Symptom. As a result, any network learning algorithm would not consider Symptom as a parent node of Disease. Temporal Indices are defined on a continuous scale and can take on positive real values or 0.
