Node Indicators

Context

  • In BayesiaLab’s Graph Panel, nodes can be tagged in a number of ways to display certain attributes and conditions.

Warnings & Errors

  • The Warning icon can indicate a number of issues:
    • The formula in the Formula Editor is not validated or incorrect.
    • The Conditional Probability Table associated with the node has not been specified, e.g., it is blank or incomplete.
  • In at least one row of the Conditional Probability Table associated with the node, the probabilities do not sum to 100%.
  • The Error icon means that, after modifying its parent nodes, the formula in the Formula Editor is no longer correct.
  • Pressing I while holding your cursor over the node displays the corresponding warning or error message.

Indicator Icons

  • With Indicator Icons, you can quickly see key attributes of nodes without having to open the Node Editor or bring up monitors.
    • a Cost other than the default value of 1 is defined for the node.
    • an Expert Assessment is associated with this node. The stronger the divergence (variance) between the assessments for this node, the darker the background of the icon. Press I while hovering over the icon to display the following information:
      • the number of conditional probability table’s rows with assessments compared to the total number of rows
      • the total number of assessments
      • the number of experts involved compared to the total number of experts
      • the overall divergence
      • the maximum divergence
    • one of the node’s states is defined as a Filtered State.
    • the node is Hidden. It represents a latent variable that does not have associated data.
    • a Local Structural Coefficient, other than the default value of 1, is applied to the node.
    • the data associated with the node contains missing values. Press I while holding your cursor over the icon to display the number of missing values.
    • the node is Not Observable, i.e., Cost = 0.
    • one of the node’s states is defined as a Reference State.
    • Stratification is applied to the node.
    • a Temporal Index is defined for the node.
    • the node’s Conditional Probability Distribution is estimated with Conditional Probability Trees.
    • the node contains Virtual States.
    • a Comment is associated with the node. Press I while holding your cursor over the icon to display the comment.
  • You can turn off the Indicator Icons by clicking the Hide Information button or by selecting Main Menu > View > Hide Information.
