2021 BayesiaLab Conference — A Zoom Virtual Event
The 9th Annual BayesiaLab Conference

Since Judea Pearl introduced Bayesian networks in the 1980s, their elegant mathematical foundations and statistical rigor have earned them a central role in computer science. Yet their potential as a powerful, general-purpose research framework has only more recently begun to resonate across a broad range of disciplines. Promoting this practical application of Bayesian networks for research, analytics, and reasoning remains the core mission of the BayesiaLab Conference.
Over the past nine years, the conference has become a recognized forum for showcasing the state of the art in Bayesian network applications—from architecture to zoology and everything in between. One of the most valued aspects for many returning attendees is the program’s interdisciplinary reach. We've seen how a breakthrough in one domain, such as medical research, can inspire solutions in a seemingly unrelated field like marketing science.
A Virtual Gathering, Again
By the time we convened the 2021 BayesiaLab Conference, our global community had become well-versed in virtual meetings. While the digital format allowed us to continue our tradition of open knowledge-sharing and international participation, we couldn’t help but miss the spontaneous conversations and informal exchanges that make in-person gatherings so enriching. With no clear timeline for resuming physical conferences, the sense of distance among colleagues and friends in the BayesiaLab community was more keenly felt than the year before.
Conference Presentations
If you missed any sessions, we’ve uploaded recordings of all presentations along with the corresponding slides. These materials remain a valuable resource for exploring the breadth and depth of ideas presented during this remote chapter of our conference history.
